It has and it still is a fabulous experience building a cabin in your back garden.  Before we moved to this house I told my husband that one of my things on my wish list was a cabin in the garden – a place of peace – somewhere to sit and Be !!!

“Oh yeh right” he said…

He’s a bit of a one for fobbing me off – hoping that I just forget or change my mind.

So we moved in …….

And I started looking around for a nice wooden cabin – He,  that is Simon (hubby) decided he didn’t want to see said Cabin from the house !! So down at the end of the garden was out –

Ok            “where can I have it?”

He said “Shove one in the corner where I can’t see it”… this actual space was 5 ft by 4 ft…

“Ok I say” so I start looking at teeeny weeny cabins of that size – then I declared that I was grateful that I was getting a cabin at all…. but it was a bit MIDGYFIED  down at the end of the garden, and that wasn’t really a pleasing thing to sit in your cabin being bitten by the Midgies.

So I was allowed to move the old shed down to Midgyland, and use the old sheds footings for my cabin.

Yeharrrrrrrrr, So the space had grown to 8 x 6 foot. (without me even asking)

So peacefully and quietly I showed him that you still couldn’t really see much of it from the house – he agreed to letting me have a 10ft x 8 ft cabin.  (I was on a roll)…

So the search began again, but all I could find were flat pack summer houses that really wouldn’t do for all year round “BE,ING”

Eventually I got a company in who said they could build me my dream cabin, but it would come at a cost…… and it could be a 12ft x 10ft cabin !!!!!  BIGGER BIGGER BIGGER

Back to Simon…………………… OK he says !!!!!  – SHOCK !!!!!! He actually agreed –

Then the company say actually – I could have ….wait for it ….. a 16ft x 10ft cabin in the allocated space !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I never said a word…. and a big

“OK”  was spoken by Simon to the Cabin builder !!!! (now Simon was quite engaged, talking the talk with this man who clearly had a love for my Cabin idea”…….

I am sitting watching these hard working people lovingly put pieces of my bespoke cabin together piece by piece…… It’s taken a bit longer than we thought to build it, but it is so much better than I could have anticipated.

Now the points of this story……

Don’t rush and get any old thing

Better comes when you don’t push

Wanting to be close to nature helps you to be more reasonable

Sitting by bees in dangerous so you need a protective cabin !!!!

Mention Midges especially if you have to sit near them

When hubby says NO, that means …. not right now !!!!

Don’t push, wait for a better answer

Thank Hubby for being so fabulous

So why a cabin

When you really want something, take your time to think and plan and enjoy the process of decision making – engage others in your plan, ideas better than your own emerge.

I really cant wait to write my first blog from within the cabin.

Close to Nature = Close to Happy

I suppose I’m going to need some furniture in there too !!!! SIMONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN

Don’t miss….. old birds on a boat……………..Bat wings and Boats, or Batty bird on a boat Blogging…………………..
