Look at all those bulbs, a warm glow, a delicate show of beauty in bulb form, the glint of hope hangs in each one – giving us the chance to try again, or just for a few moments

I love light, and like many others I do get a bit of SAD, A few years ago I bought an alarm clock that gradually lights up before waking you with not only a sunrise but a choice of lapping waves, dawn chorus, crackling fire (not great – sends you into a panic) or babbling brook etc. In the winter this changes my mornings, I am absolutely sure it helps me to wake up happier.

We all tend to feel a lot better in the summer, when the light is brighter. Are you Sad because of SAD???? But light therapy can help us anytime, whatever the cause of our sadness. And I know that a lot of people today have genuine reason to be sad today and others just are sad – there is no reason in particular it’s just a low feeling.

Obviously good nutrition helps but that’s for another blog

So being happy is key to us feeling better on a daily basis – all agreed, the most important thing is to let go of worry and stress for a few moments a day.

MEDITATION – Crikey I am out of the habit and boy don’t I know it. So For the next 93 days I am going to do a 5 minute daily meditation (a gift to myself)

All I am going to do is sit for 5 minutes with a timer set on my phone – light a candle and watch the flame. When I think I can memorise the flame in my mind I will close my eyes and visualise the flame. If a thought or some other vision comes into my head (a stressy one) I will thank it and open my eyes to see the flame again and start again (not the whole timer thing)

So I know that for at least 5 minutes I am trying to meditate – then day by day I will get back into it.

What happens with me is – I get into it then I want to do another 5 minutes (so the timer gets set the next day for 10 then 15 minutes etc)

Give it a try – it’s peaceful and easy

If you are the flip side of unhappy, then its only fair that you share your joy with the world.

Enjoy happy days, you are worthy of more of them, never have guilt for feeling happy.

We have one life, be kind to yourself and enjoy a happy moment today no matter how brief.
