I would love to be able to say “Happy New Year !!! Make this your best one yet and make your plans, write your gratitude lists, make your vision boards and go to at least 20 positive minds groups” yes that should cover it. Oh and don’t forget the gym … every day !! yes go everyday that’s a great idea (not).
Obviously as you can probably tell by my attitude above that I am not a fan of making loads of “New Me” changes just because a new year is about to dawn.
A New Year is a moment in time, nothing really changes about yourself unless you make some fundamental changes about yourself.
Here are some easy steps to help you
STEP ONE
NOTICE STUFF – Ok now here’s the great thing, this costs nothing other than a bit of mindset work. What you do is take a look around you and notice what you already have. Notice what you own, what car you have, or bike, or your wall paper, Your pet, your partner, your grassy bank up the road, the pavement outside, the painted door you like, the windows that open, the food in your cupboard etc.
Become a Noticer…… This is a game, so make it fun.
First thing when you wake up, notice that you are alive and breathing, and no matter how you actually feel, notice that it is a real privilege to wake up in a room, notice your room.
Then Do a 10 seconds notice’athon…… Look for things to notice for just 10 seconds. Now if you can multitask, get up and start your day with a few stretches whilst you play the Notice Game (NG) .
Now you can call yourself a “Noticer” … now just to let you know that you are looking for pleasing things in places, stuff and people… If you start to notice bad stuff like Judgemental things then give yourself a tap on the back of the hand and switch your NG back to good stuff. Nobody likes a Judgemental Noticer !!!
So Here’s the best bit about my new game… Notice good things about yourself.
Notice the walking you are doing, the way your arms move, the way you can take a deep breath in when things are stressy, notice how you can use your muscles and stretch them and your brain thinks and all day long you are achieving things…
Notice all the brilliant things that you already do.
So after a while of playing the NG thing, you will find that you are thinking in a better manner.
Yes there is always something we can improve about ourselves.
Do we need to do it all during the first 2 weeks of January ? No we don’t
What we do need to do is today, whatever day you read this is kick start the NG
Notice what food you are choosing to eat. Notice how you feel. Notice how much better you feel when you lay off the booze. Notice that when you take 5 deep breaths you feel calmer. Notice that if you drink more water daily you feel more energised. Notice that when you are calmer other people are calm too. Notice that you are very lovely and attractive and loved. Yes really notice that you are loved and notice that you love yourself. By Noticing yourself you will achieve all the things you want to. Because it is your first priority.
