Jet Wash that Hippo out of your mind….

Have you ever bought some pears that are rock hard and you attempt to put your teeth into one only to be met with the iron girder of all fruit? Then you put them by the banana’s because that’s supposed to ripen them up, the banana’s go brown and your pear just gets mouldy and goes off? Or an avacado – like a brick then yay it softens but inside its black?

What’s my point here?

Well it really is that sometimes the thing we are waiting for just doesn’t materialise.

I hear this a lot… “I’ll be happy when……. ”

When I’m slimmer
When I get the new bathroom done
When I get the garden sorted
When I get a new job
When I get this that or the other……………… blah blah blah

I know you will have heard this or even said it yourself. Well stop it now. Because you may be waiting for this happiness dependant on the “Thing” and it just doesn’t make you happy.

We have to think differently about happiness

We have to make a Conscious Intention to up our happiness levels.

Now let’s just make one thing clear. We are not meant to be deliriously happy 24/7 ok. There are things in life that will make us feel sad and this is perfectly normal. The big thing to notice is that we don’t spiral into a life of unhappiness because we don’t clear the negative or upsetting things from our minds enough. So we build up a bog in our minds, so when your proverbial welly steps in, you literally have to wade through mind sludge to get anywhere.

You notice that your clarity is gone, you cannot think straight, you start to lose confidence in your decision making, you don’t want to get up in the mornings, everything seems tainted with a negative edge.

If you are starting to feel like this.. It’s time to change – Maybe you have a fully grown Hippo wallowing in the mud in your mind?

Aww yes what a lovely hippo but really !!!! Move the hippo out.

So we need to go and get a jet washer and give that mind a good old sloshing down.

As you may be able to tell by my manner of writing and other blogs that I use a concept of Flippancy to deal with upsetting things, I try and get a funny thing going in my mind rather than dwell on the thing that is bothering me.

I never say “I’ll be happy when… ” because I really understand that you actually need to be happy now, during your journey, on the path towards all the things you want in your life. If you really start to get happy then all the things you want will happen and you will have added lots and lots of extra happy time to your life – not rocket science is it.

So buy yourselves a big bowl of cherries and know that you have so much to be happy about now.

Here’s a few things I use to be happy about

1. Air
2. Water
3. Being Alive
4. Nature
5. Life

So we all have them !!! Make an intention to notice your happiness levels and give them a good tweak if necessary.

Meditate yourself happy. You don’t have to Ommmmm but that’s really great for inducing happiness.

Just focus on your breathing every hour on the hour. Think calm, think good thoughts and think happy.
